2nd of December - Update

As most of you may have noticed the website has been changed, this was purely by mistake but it looks ok so we are keeping it.

This is just a quick update to let you know what we have been up to, and what we have planned for the year ahead.

Firstly the big news is that Mr Kidger is expecting his first child in February. He already has a name picked, Johnson, and we expecting him to have all the character of his Dad, so we won't beable to get the little bogger to ever shut up!!! Of course this means that we will be slowing down as a band electrically for a while, so don't be surprised that our gig calendar isn't as full as it usually is. We have of course had our busiest year to date playing anywhere and everywhere.

On the band front, we have a few new songs written that we are trying out at the moment so hopefully we shall be in the studio again in the middle of next year. In the meantime the other 3 (non soon tpo be father) members will be undertaking a small acoustic tour in late Jan through Feb, to keep themselves busy.

I am also planning on bringing Celebrity of the Month Back so check it out here

Have a good Xmas

15th of February - Studio Report

9th of Feb:-

Well it's 10.30pm and I've just got back from the Studio, it's been a great day with all the drum and bass tracks laid down. The Studio is excellent and we've had a great atmosphere whilst play which has really given extra energy to the songs. John has impressed us all by keeping time superbly with a click track while still playing brilliantly. He has also half killed the band with his rancid Farts that have gagged many a maggit for miles around. Bring on day two......

10th of Feb:-

Well day two is over, Neal has done all his guitar parts and we've even managed to squeeze in another song so all being well we should have a good selection by midweek. The day as a hole has been great fun, Guy the producer is ace and a really good bloke and so is Dan our studio helper. The only down side has been Johns violence, which has resulted in a certain bass player throwing up after being punch in the testies!! Ouch!!!

More fun tomorrow x

11th & 12th of Feb

Day three was spent mostly on the vocal tracks, with his big bottle of Gaviscone, emergency Rennies and menthol crystals Daz was more than prepared for the day ahead. He has put down some very interesting idea's vocally that completely change the style of the songs, which work really well. We also spent today doing percussion, which was mainly done by Guy the producer, until John got involved and then before we knew what was going on he had his buttocks out and Neal was slapping them......this is on one of the new track......no really.....

Day 4 was mix day, with our parts done we left it to Guy to do his magic while we just sat around getting in his way. He only had one break allday to fetch a tuna wrap....which was thrown away as the tuna looked a strange colour and no one seemed to know if the colour ment it was good or bad, he decided not to take the chance.

In the four days we've been in the studio we've learnt many things. 1) don't punch John in the balls cos he'll always get you back and he can punch much harder. 2) Nintendo 64's we're wank 3) McDonald's breakfast's are much better than Burger King 4) all people from kirkby talk the same way 5) The Southbank in Notts have hot bar staff (these are not good for John's Labido)

The new Tracks are being mastered this week and hopefully by next week they will be up on the site, so take time to have one last listen to the tracks currently on the site and we'll see you soon

26th of January

Well as some of you may be aware, we are in the Studio in a few weeks. This will be the longest period we have been in a studio. We'll be in from the 9th to the 12th of Feb and are hoping to get something really special for the new studio we are using. We are planning on recording some of the newer songs we've written but have no set idea as to which ones we are just going to see which ones seem the best at the time. In the mean time don't forget our first Notts gig of 2008 on the first of Feb x

30th of December 2007

Well Xmas is over and a new year in the Starscreen History is about to begin, this year we will be continuing our trip round the country to spread the best kept secret in Music. We are also booked into the Studio in early Feb so there will be new tracks up very soon. The bad news is that due to lack of Idea's we are putting an end to the Celebrity of the Month feature. Heres to a fun filled new year x

23rd of May - Mindvox BOTB Final

We are through to the final of the Mindvox Battle of the Bands final, thanks to everyone who voted us and hope to see you at the final on the 3rd of June.

12/12/06 - New Songs and the Vaults Cancelled

Due to the Vaults losing their sound engineer the gig on Saturday has been cancelled, we will try and arrange another one for next year.

Some better news is that the two new songs are now avaliable to download, also check out the studio pics in the Gallery.

08/12/06 - Studio Report

Well we've just finished a day in the studio. We are so far very pleased with the results, although not everything went to plan. We recorded two songs "Closer to me" and "Panic Station" once it is mixed we will get the songs up on the website/myspace site for you to download/listen to.

13/11/06 - Studio Report and more Gigs

We plan to go in the studio at the beginning of December, we will be putting these songs on the Myspace site and you will be able to download them on here. Check the site for more updates.

Also we are starting to get gigs for the beginning of next year, check out some of the ones we've already got on the GIGS PAGE

27/09/06 - The Great Escape

The Great Escape is nearly up on us, this is going to be a regular night at Junktion 7 for a band called Censored. They are good friends of ours and we have the privilage of playing the opening night. So get yourself down to this, but get there early as the is talk that it will be a sell out and we will have to turn people away. We did a small acoustic set last night at junktion 7 (as did Matt from Censored) to promote this night, have a look at the setlist if you want, but make sure you don't miss the Great Escape it's gun ta be rate grand!

23/09/06 - Oxjam

We have had a gig offer from a Notts based promotion company called Jump 100. This is on the 14th of October and will be at the Rose of England in Notts, a good venue but we have to carry the equipment up some very steep stairs. This gig is also part of the month long Oxjam project that is running all October to raise money for Oxfam. So come down it's for a good cause, no excuses!!!! See Gigs Page for more details.

27/08/06 - Website change, Gigs, Setlist

The more observant amougst you may have noticed we have a new web address, this was out of our hands but from now on our address is www.starscreenhq.co.uk not .com.

In other news thanks to our new best friend Margi of Worldstage promotions we have two more gigs to announce. The First is in Leicester at the Firebug and the second is at Junktion 7 supporting Censored, check out the gigs page for more info. Also check out the acoustic setlist we did at Junktion 7.

11/08/06 - New gigs

Hi again Starscreen fans! Three more gigs have been announced. Two of these are acoustic and one is at the community centre that we use to rehearse as part of the bank holiday weekend, check the gigs page for more info. Check out last nights set from Derby, thanks to Margi for putting on a great night.

23/07/06 - Frog Gig Cancelled & new drummer needed!

We have had to cancel our gig today at the Frog and Nightgown, we apologise but it is out of our hands.

In other news John will be doing a Charity Skydive today and given Johns general clumsiness and superb ability to injure himself we are assuming he is going to die! So if your a drummer who can go two bastard minutes without hurting him/herself get in touch we may have a job for you. Also if you live near Nottingham and you hear a big crash upstairs, don't worry it'll just be John crashing through your roof. We apologise for this but if you could find it in your heart to bury him it would be much appreciated. Cheers

JOHN KIDGER - R.I.P (30.07.88-19.07.06)

07/07/06 - Vote for Starscreen!

If you don't we'll find your IP address, come round your house and rough you up abit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you feel luck punks!!! Cheers to Chris the work shy fop for the info!

17th of June - Starscreen Take a Break

We have one more gig till we take about a month off from gigging. This is to update the set we want to try and bring back some of the older songs and add at least one new one. This should mean that every gig is slightly different as we'll have more songs to choose from. We still have the Diamond Club tomorrow night and if we get through then we may need to cut short our break but we'll see. We are currently looking at getting gigs from August onwards, the first of these new gigs is is at The Vic Bikers Club in Coalville, see gigs page for more info. Also checkout last nights setlist at The Malt Shovel in Grantham.

9th of June - Hucknall Gig cancelled

The Gig at the Seven Stars has been cancelled due to problems outside of our control. We will try to get another date in the future but until then check out last nights set.

22nd of May - Mill date swap and 3 new gigs

Our Dead as Disco slot has been moved from the 29th of May to the 27th. We also have three new gigs thanks to www.angaman.com these are at The White Hart - Melton Mowbray (11th of August), Penthouse - Sleaford (3rd of September), Christopher's - Lincoln (20th of October). Check the gigs page for more info.

11th of May - BOTB's Results

Over the last few days we have taken part in two Battle of the Bands competitions, we have progressed to the next round in both. Read the setlists here. The next round of the Underdog Festival will be on the 31st of May at Junktion 7 in Nottingham.

29th of April - 3 gigs in 3 Counties

Three more gigs have come our way and they are in three different counties, the first is in Derby at the First Floor on the 10th of May, this is a battle of the bands competition.

The second is at the Town Mill (hopefully John will make this one) as part of the DEAD AS DISCO festival that is taking place over the bank holiday weekend. We are playing on the bank holiday monday (29th of May)

And finally we have one at the Malt Shovel in Grantham on the 16th of June. Check out the gigs page for more info.

21st of April - Gig on Sunday Cancelled

The gig this Sunday at the Green Roms has been cancelled as 3-4 of the 6 bands have pulled out and as we're only doing an acoustic set it has been decided to postpone the gig till later. More details as we get them.

27th of March - New Pzaaz Page

We have a new artist page at www.pzaaz.com/starscreen if you wanna check it out. It's effectively exactly the same as the Myspace page but a different colour and with less information but if you don't like reading and your not coloured blind this may be a better option for you.

20th of March - Another Gig

We have managed to get a gig at The Attik in Leicester, we have never played here before but were due to just before Sean left the band. They only put one out of town band on per week so the gig isn't till the 8th of November. See the Gigs page for more info.

15th of March - Gigs, Gigs, Gigs

We've got gigs coming out our fukin' Ass at the minute. Got 3 more for you here still theres more to come.

The First is thanks to Christof at www.giggedweb.co.uk who are starting to put a monthly event on at The Black Market, in Warsop we are to be on the first event on the 28th of May. This is the third gig that Giggedweb have given us the other two are, The Frog & Nightgown- 01/04/06 & The Town Mill - 21/04/06

The Second of the newly announced gigs is a return to The Shed, this was the place where John popped his Cherry (gig wise) and this is on the 8th of June.

Finally the third gig is on the 23rd of July at the Frog and Nightgown as part of a 3 day DAYS OF FIRE festival, we are playing on the third day. Not sure of the full details yet but we'll let you know.

Check out more info on these and many more gigs on the Gigs page

9th of March - Green Rooms Gig

Thanks to James from the band Lukas we have another gig at the Green Rooms in Chesterfield. There are 5 bands altogether and it will be an early start of 6pm, check out the gigs page for more info also check out Lukas' Myspace page at www.myspace.com/lukaslife

6th of March - Gig in June and John getting better

Just letting you know that all being well Mr Kidger will be joining us for the gig on Saturday, his hands are still very badly bruised but he says he's ok. Let this be a lesson to all you wimps out there!

In other news we have a gig in June thanks to Shock & Awe promotions (www.shock-awe.co.uk) this is on Saturday the 10th of June at the Seven Stars in Hucknall. See Gigs for more details.

26th of February - The Curse of Starscreen

It would appear the band is indeed cursed. Anyone who turned up to the Town Mill on Friday night would have been surprised to see a short (rather under prepared) acoustic set. This is because we had no drummer! We later found out that he was in Hospital after taking a rather bad beating. This means he will be out of action for a good couple of weeks at the least. This also means that the 11th of March at the New Cross in Sutton will again be acoustic. We'll keep you up to date on Johns condition. In the mean time have a look at the setlist for the Town Mill gig.

21st of February - Gig at the Shed

Thanks to a Roasted Live! we have got another gig at the Shed in Leicester, it's on August 27th. Visit the Roasted Live! website at www.roastedlive.co.uk more details on the gig are on the Gigs page.

18th of February - New Soundaloud Page

The band have just added a page to a Sheffield based website called Soundaloud. This will hopefully help when we start gigging in Sheffield and the surrounding area. We will try and do the same with all the other places we plan to start gigging in including Leicester, Leeds, Manchester, Derby etc. But for now you can visit the page at http://www.soundaloud.com/band.php?artist_id=717 have a look see what you think.

11th of February - Clifton gig postponed

Due to the venue not being fully ready yet we are putting or gig at The Winning Post, in Clifton, back a couple of weeks. More details as we get them.

4th of February - Two more gigs in Sutton

We've managed to sort out a few more gigs, both these are in Sunny Sutton-in-Ashfield. The first is at the Last Drop, this is not confirmed 100% yet but we'll let you know if it doesn't take place. The second is at the Diamond Club, we played there a couple of weeks ago and it looked to be a really good gig then the bass amp went and everything feel apart, so we have to go back and prove what we're really made of. Check Gigs page for more info.

In other news we do have a myspace page at www.myspace.com/starscreenonline check it out and become one of our friends if you want.

28th of January - Few more gigs and a few changes

We have a few more gigs to announce these are the 26th of Feb at The Winning Post in Clifton and the 11th of March at the New Cross at Sutton. The New Cross gig is thanks to our friends from For This Day who we played with at the Diamond the other day, we may have a few more with them in the future.

We have also had to rearrange a few gigs. Our second Town Mill gig will now be on the 21st of April and not the 19th of March. This means we have also had to rearrange The Green Rooms gig to the 5th of May. See the gigs page for more info.

It's also the 22nd anniversary of the Birth of one Neal Davis today so we'd like to wish him a happy birthday and Thank God for taking him one year closer to death. The Reapers coming Nealy!

12th of January - Another Gig

It would appear I was wrong when I said the 19th of May would be our return to the Town Mill as we have just been given another gig there on the 24th of February. This is with the Heat and For This Day. We played with the Heat in the Mill's BOTB's competition and we will be playing with For This Day at the Diamond Club next week. See gigs page for all up and coming gigs. Also please note that a short list of all the gigs is now at the bottom of the Home Page

9th of January - More Gigs

Well they say things come in three's and Starscreen gigs seem to be doing just that. yes we have three more gigs planned. Two have been organised by the good people at www.giggedweb.co.uk these include our return to the Town Mill on the 19th of May and another Frog and Nightgown gig on the 1st of April. The other gig is at the Green Rooms in Chesterfield. And there's still plenty more to come. For more info go to the gigs page.

18th of December - Gig at Diamond & Mailing list

We have been offered a gig at the Diamond Club in Sutton, we've played here a couple of times in their Battle of the Bands competition. For more information see the Gigs Page.

We have just done our first two gigs with new drummer John and to say we've not played for a while they went very well, John is certainly right for the job and if we had any doubts about him (we didn't, but if we did) then he killed them. So we are now looking forward to the up and coming dates. See the Setlist page to see what songs we played at the two gigs.

We have also started a mailing list so we can send you all the latest starscreen news. Just send an email to starscreennews@yahoo.co.uk and we'll sign you up.

19th of November

Another gig is planned for the 27th of January 2006, this is at the King of Diamond in Langwith see gigs page for more details

7th of Wednesday

It's been nearly 6 month's since the last Starscreen gig but we are pleased to announce that we are back!! The first gig with new drummer John will be on the 5th of December 2005 at The Shed in Leicester, this is then followed by another gig in Worksop on the 9th, this is at the Frog and Nightgown. We have played both these places before and enjoyed them, checkout the gigs page for more info. I can here you all shouting at the computer "It's about B@stard time, what have you been doing for six months?" well to answer you question, not a great deal other than reheasing with John, but one event worth mentioning is Winskegable. This is our band competition, heres another one of those high budget slideshows to explain more. Click here to view, once you've opened the file (be warned it's a biggy and not really worth the wait) just press F5 and the slideshow will begin. Enjoy, and don't forget about the up coming gigs.

31st of October

Later this week we should be updating the band profiles so you can learn abit more about Mr Kidger, for now though I've put a little powerpoint presentation on the profiles to tell the story of Starscreen so far. View it here

19th of October

Good News for all you Starscreen fans out there, we are putting the finishing touches to our set and we are almost ready to start gigging again. We have sent demos off to venues and are waiting for replies. We have a few new songs and we'll be seeing thee very soon. While ya doin nowt check out the new pics of John Kidger our new drummer.

1st of October

As some of you may be aware we do have a new drummer his name is John Kidger, he's 17 and from Clifton. He's been with us since July and we are now coming close to doing some gigs with him. We don't have any pictures to show just yet but some will surface in the coming weeks and hopefully we will start gigging in November/December time.
